Christine and Nicholas’ engagement session at the Brookfield Zoo was the definition of “let’s make this feel like a date.”
It was playful, different, and full of those candid moments that happen when you’re actually having fun together instead of worrying about posing.
The Brookfield Zoo is such a fun engagement session location because it gives you variety built into the day.
You’ve got greenery, pathways, unique textures, and different “worlds” as you move through the zoo, so the gallery ends up feeling like a full story without needing to drive anywhere.
And honestly, it’s just easy to be yourselves when you’re looking at animals and laughing together.
We kept the session moving like a normal zoo day. Walk, stop when something caught their attention, grab a few portraits when the light looked good, then keep going.
That flow is the secret sauce for sessions like this. It doesn’t feel forced, and the photos end up feeling like you two actually living your life.
Christine and Nicholas were all in, lots of laughter, lots of natural connection, and the kind of comfort that makes the camera feel like an afterthought.
If you’re not the “stand in a field and stare into the distance” type, a zoo session is such a good move.
You get built-in activities, natural reactions, and a setting that makes the whole experience feel fun instead of intimidating.
Plus, your gallery ends up being totally unique. Not everyone has Brookfield Zoo engagement photos, and that’s kind of the point.
1) Choose comfy shoes.
You’ll be walking a lot. Comfort keeps everything relaxed and natural in photos.
2) Keep outfits simple and clean.
Zoo backdrops are busy in a fun way. Neutral or solid colors photograph really well and keep the focus on you.
3) Make it an actual date.
Grab snacks, take your time, and enjoy it. The more fun you’re having, the better the photos feel.
4) Plan around crowds if possible.
Weekdays and earlier times usually feel more relaxed. We can also work around busy areas and find clean spots for portraits.
If you want engagement photos that feel like you two having a great day together, the Brookfield Zoo is such a fun option.
We’ll keep it easy, guide you through the session, and make sure you walk away with a gallery that feels real, playful, and totally you.
