Katie and Thomas crafted a day that felt unapologetically them laid-back, playful, and filled with intentional family-centered moments. Their celebration was nestled in one of South Bend’s most iconic historic backdrops and featured an incredible balance of elegance, personal touches, and the kind of energy that keeps people dancing late into the night.
While Thomas and his crew geeked out over tech and engineering (naturally), Katie and her bridal party were busy toppling the patriarchy one lipstick application at a time. The vibe was light, the laughs were loud, and Katie’s Austrian handkerchief (passed down from her mother and grandmother) was ready to carry on tradition.
Their first look happened just before the ceremony and was everything a first look should be calm, meaningful, and one of the rare quiet moments in the day that allowed them to just breathe each other in before the celebrations kicked off.
The couple’s ceremony was held indoors, surrounded by exposed brick and warm wood tones that offered the perfect contrast to their soft palette of mauve, blush, and sage green. Officiated by Stephen Luecke, the ceremony was non-religious but deeply rooted in meaning and connection.
No special exits or elaborate recessions just a whole lot of happy tears, laughs, and that feeling of we did the thing.
Cocktail hour rolled into dinner (with Navarre Catering handling the deliciousness), and toasts brought both laughter and nostalgia just the way they should. From parents to best friends, the speeches captured how deeply loved these two are.
By 7:05, it was time to cue up the dance floor with the couple’s first dance, followed by sweet dances with family and one heck of an anniversary dance that got everyone moving.
And just before sunset? We snuck them outside for a quick golden hour session. The light? Unreal. Their chemistry? Off the charts. Let’s just say, the greenway and the Armory’s exterior hit different when love is in the air.
