Cheyenne and Tony’s engagement session in Valparaiso was basically a perfect “let’s go do our thing” kind of date.
We bounced around town, hit some of their favorite spots, and captured a session that felt playful, personal, and completely them.
This is one of our favorite ways to plan engagement photos.
Pick a few places you actually love, keep it simple, and let the session feel like a real afternoon together. Cheyenne and Tony had the best lineup, Fluid Coffee, Designer Desserts, Rocket Fizz, and yes, a laundromat stop that made the whole thing feel extra fun.
We kicked things off at Fluid Coffee.
Starting at a coffee shop is always a win because it’s low pressure and gives you something to do with your hands right away. We captured cozy, candid moments and a few portraits that felt relaxed and natural from the start.
Next up was Designer Desserts, which added a totally different vibe.
This stop brought in that sweet, playful energy, and it gave us fun details to work with while still keeping the focus on them. Sharing a treat always leads to real laughs, and those moments photograph so well.
Then we hit Rocket Fizz for all the bright color and nostalgia.
Stores like this are engagement session gold because the background already has personality. It’s bold, fun, and it instantly loosens everyone up. We grabbed a mix of candid moments and a few “this is so them” portraits while they explored.
And then, the laundromat.
This was such a fun twist because it’s unexpected, it’s quirky, and it feels like an inside joke you can actually see in photo form. The clean lines, repeating machines, and neon-ish lighting can create a really cool look, and Cheyenne and Tony fully leaned into it.
1) Choose places you actually go.
The more real the locations are to you, the more natural the photos will feel.
2) Keep the stops close together.
A tight route keeps the session flowing without feeling rushed.
3) Don’t worry about “perfect” spots.
A laundromat proves it. Personality always beats perfection.
If you want engagement photos that feel like you two doing what you actually love, we’re all in.
Pick your spots, bring your vibe, and we’ll capture it in a way that feels fun now and still looks amazing years from now.
