Becky and Lucas’ wedding at Sand Creek Country Club was the perfect example of how to keep a day feeling classic and elevated, while still letting your personality show up loud and clear.
It wasn’t a full “theme wedding.” It was subtle gamer-nerd goodness sprinkled in the best ways, and it made everything feel even more like them.
Sand Creek Country Club gives you that clean, polished wedding-day flow.
It’s the kind of venue where everything feels put together without feeling stiff. There’s room for the emotional stuff, space for portraits, and then a reception setup that makes it really easy for the party to build as the night goes on.
Basically, it’s a solid spot for couples who want a beautiful day that still feels relaxed.
One of our favorite parts of Becky and Lucas’ day was how they worked their interests into the wedding without turning it into a costume party.
It was tasteful, intentional, and honestly just fun.
The cake toppers were Funko Pop versions of them, which is already a win. It’s personal, it’s playful, and it got people smiling the second they noticed it.
Then came the unity knot, and this one was wildly on brand.
Instead of a typical unity ritual, they tied their knot using Nintendo controllers.
It was such a simple twist, but it made the moment feel like their relationship, not a copy-and-paste wedding tradition.
If you want your guests to remember your wedding forever, feed them something fun and send them home with it.
Becky and Lucas did donuts for their guests, but not just any donuts. They were handed out in custom Funko Pop themed boxes of them.
That’s the kind of detail that makes people go, “okay wait, this is awesome,” and then immediately take a photo of it.
The reception tables had paper cut-out table numbers, which fit right into the vibe of the day.
Those little DIY elements matter because they’re not just decor. They’re a reflection of time, effort, and “we made this together.”
And when you mix that kind of personal touch with a venue that feels elevated, it creates a day that’s both polished and real.
If you want to bring in “nerdy” details without turning your wedding into a full theme, focus on three areas: ceremony, desserts, and tables.
Those are the spots guests naturally look at and interact with, which means your details get noticed without needing to scream for attention.
Becky and Lucas nailed this balance, and it’s a big reason the day felt so cohesive.
