Audria and Nanci knew they wanted one thing from the jump, get married on the water with their people around them and let the day feel easy. The Lake House – Premiere Wedding Venue matched their whole vibe. It had that relaxed “water life” energy, and the owners felt like the kind of folks you can actually breathe around. That matters.
They built the day around what they cared about most, their crew, their kids, and a celebration that felt like real life, just dressed up a little.
Nanci’s dress story is one of those “yep, that’s the one” moments. She tried on about eight and saved the last one for last. When she came out and saw herself in the mirror, she cried. Done. Decision made. No second guessing.
Leading up to the wedding, the anxiety was not about the big stuff. It was the tiny moving pieces. Decorations, who’s walking with who, all the little things that somehow feel huge when you’re in planning mode.
And then the day came, and it turned into exactly what they hoped for.
Both of them circled the first look as the moment they were most excited for. It ended up being their favorite part of the day too.
Nanci seeing Audria for the first time was the kind of moment that immediately drops your shoulders and slows your brain down. For Audria, it was the proof. Like, “Okay, we’re here. We did it. This is real.”
It was also the first time the day felt like it belonged to just them.
Nanci’s most anticipated moment was walking down the aisle and seeing her “home.” All the people who mean the most, in one place, focused on her and Audria.
Then her brother stepped in and took her other arm on the way down. Not planned, just a pure hit-you-in-the-chest surprise.
Audria also dropped a moment that absolutely wrecked the best kind of way, vows to the kids. That one stuck with everyone.
Their inspiration was simple and very them. Nanci loves the beach, and even though this was lake life, it still had that calming, breezy feel. They leaned into mint, coral, and gray, pulled ideas from Pinterest and Etsy, and added their own touches until it felt like their world.
The memory table, the colors, the atmosphere, and the guest book all came together in a way that felt personal without being overdone.
Once the reception hit, Audria said it best. This was the relaxing part. It was finally time to hang out, breathe, and just be themselves.
A few things made the day extra unforgettable. Nanci riding in the back of a jeep with the tailgate open was an unexpected highlight. Also, we threw images up on the DJ screen during the reception, and they both lost it in the best way. Add in the drone shots and all the candid little “how did you even catch that” moments, and the whole night just felt alive.
And yes, they told us to get out on the dance floor with the wedding party. So we did.
If you want the day to feel calm, hire a day-of coordinator. Both of them said it straight up. Prioritize what matters to you, and don’t let the tiny details steal the joy. It’s going to be perfect in its own way, even if it doesn’t go exactly to plan.
Honeymoon plans were pure Michigan vibes, Mackinaw and the UP, because it fits them and Nanci had never been. More adventures, more family time, and building the life they’ve been working toward.
